History

The South Coast Presbytery was formed in 1989 by an action of the 17th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in America.  A presbytery is the regional gathering of churches for support, accountability, and cooperation.  The South Coast Presbytery comprises all the churches in San Diego, Orange, Riverside, and Imperial counties of southern California.

Characteristics

The churches of the South Coast Presbytery minister to some of the most ethnically, politically, and economically diverse people in the world.  Our boundaries stretch from the border towns on the California-Mexico border to the gated, beach communities of Orange County.  With churches in modern cities, like San Diego, and the exurbs of the Inland Empire, the South Coast Presbytery has a unique opportunity to minister the gospel in many different circumstances.
